Like the Pacifica before it the Ford Taurus X / Freestyle is ending it's productiohn run starting in February 2009. The Ford Freestyle was introduced to lack luster sales and later after a little nip/tuck and the infamous Ford 3-Bar Gillette Sensor Grill became the Ford Taurus X. Still sales never picked up and then the Ford Edge became the big seller so Ford had no choice but to axe the X.
The X/Freestyle really never hit it's mark style wise. It looked like a bloated station wagon. The restyling never really seemed to fit with the car's overall styling. I think that selling this as a Ford was the biggest mistake of all. This should have been in Mercury's dealerships. Mercury skewers more female and the Taurus X is more of a Soccer Mom type a car. The Sable or The Villager would have been a nice little vehicle for the suburbs. Calling it the Villager and with some nice trim levels might have saved this CUV for extinction.
