Volvo S60 Concept, But I Miss My Box

Here is the Volvo S60 Concept that will debut in Detroit in January.  The new Volvo ditches decades of boxy simple designs to join the world of me too-ism following style cues Audi among others. Here is how the car is described by Volvo PR:
The first picture reveals the coupe-inspired silhouette that gave the original S60 its unique stance. It has now been further accentuated. "The concept car's design gives a visual promise of enthusiastic driving characteristics and I can assure you that the all-new S60 will deliver a sporty drive like no Volvo before," says Stephen Odell.
It looks like it took the front end of the new Jaguar and attached it to the A5 Coupe.  I've been a huge fan of Volvo over the years.  In fact my current favorite small car is the Volvo C30.  I think it is one great little car far better than some bigger cars out of Europe.  It's a shame that it hasn't sold as well here in the States.  In case you forgot what the C30 looks like here is a picture.
As for the new S60 I'm worried that Ford is killing this brand by going the same exact route that GM has done with SAAB.  They've taken the quirkiness that gave the car soul and replaced it with bland me-too styling hoping to chase BMW to the sales gate.  The picture above of the new S60 is only a teaser shot let's hope when it debuts in Jan of 09 it comes off better in person and in full spotlight.
