Founded in Auburn, Ind., in 1900, Auburn originally made touring cars before being acquired by automotive Errett Lobban Cord in 1924. Cord took the brand upmarket, formering partnerships with makers such as Duesenberg and hiring top designers to make both Auburns and his own eponymous Cord automobiles. Like many small, high-end marques, it went out of business during the Great Depression.
